Beef Carpaccio

Beef Carpaccio

Planning a lunch or dinner for guests this weekend? Here’s an idea for a simple yet delicious appetizer to add to your menu.

Beef carpaccio is a traditional Italian appetizer comprised of simple vital ingredients: thinly cut raw beef slices, olive oil, lemon juice, rocket leaves, salt and pepper to season, and topped with shavings of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

With so few ingredients, you’ll want to ensure you’re using only the highest quality available, from the beef to the oil. We recommend the rich, fruity-flavoured Zanetti Parmigiano Reggiano cheese which is a purely natural and nutritious product, without additives or preservatives. And for the olive oil, we use Olitalia Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is produced in Italy and made only from 100% Italian olives.

So good, and it really couldn’t get any simpler. Alternatively, serve with meat and vinaigrette of choice or pesto.

Ingredients

  • 450g beef fillet
  • 1 small lemon, juiced
  • 4 tablespoons Olitalia Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 50g rocket leaves
  • Zanetti Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, shaved
  • Salt and pepper to season

Method

  • Prepare the beef by slicing thinly. Use baking paper to sandwich individual beef slices, using a meat tenderizer to pound until thin enough.
  • On a platter, or individual serving plates, place rocket and beef carpaccio.
  • Add lemon juice over the beef, followed by olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and add shavings of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
